Art Group - design challenge
The Art Quilt group I belong to has decided to go through 5 Art Design Primer lessons that were presented in Quilting Arts Magazine, the first one was published in the Fall 2006 issue, Lesson I: Unity & Focual Point.
The exercises given in the article are:
- Create a unified composition by repeating shape or colour.
- Create a unified composition with mostly horizontal or vertical lines.
- Create one composition emphasizing unity, another emphasizing variety.
- Using five random shapes, create unity through proximity.
- Create a focal point using contrast of colour, line, or detail.
- Create a focal point contrasting realistic/abstract, open/complex, size, or detail.
- Create a focal point using placement.
- Create a focal point using isolation.
I have done three of these so far, hope to get the rest done by the next art group meeting.
