Record Keeping
After the guild meeting this week, I realize I need a better system of tracking my quilts. I have most of them photographed, but have not organized or recorded information on them. I have tried to put them in a book, but keeping that updated seems to be a bit of a chore. I am thinking of adding a category here and posting them here. Will have to test a few things out, figure out what information I want to record for each quilt.
I at minimum, I will need to record the name, date, pattern, who quilted it. Maybe type of material used, size, who I have given it to and so on. Might – create a drupal site to do the recording of my quilts. Set up a content type for them and then enter the information I want to record. Will play with some ideas this month and see what I like most. Something online would be nice as I can then access it from anywhere when I want some information. The hard part with any process though, is to keep it up to date. I have starting a quilt numbering system, with quilts I have done for my business (Quilts by Scott) these include client quilts however. I do want to document them as well, but want to keep them private unless the customer is okay with me posting information about their quilt. There is a good recording sheet at the Lighthouse Quilt Guild - http://www.lighthousequiltguild.org/forms/LHQG-QuiltRecord.pdf.
